Ford Fiesta ST Gears Up For A 2018 Comeback

The Ford Fiesta ST is one of the best performance cars that don't cost a lot of money. Given this fact, a lot of people are looking forward to the new model. However, buyers will have to wait a little longer before they get a chance to get one. But the wait will be worth it though as the Ford Fiesta ST is gearing up for a big 2018 comeback.

The Ford Fiesta ST Performance

The current model of the Ford Fiesta ST is already powerful with its 1.6-liter turbocharged engine capable of 197 horsepower. The model that will come in 2018 however will have more power than the current one. According to Motor1, the Ford Fiesta ST 2018 will have over 200 horsepower. The powertrain will be paired with a six-speed manual gearbox with an option for a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. This will allow the 2018 Ford Fiesta to go from zero to 60 miles per hour within 6.5 seconds as reported.

According to a report from Road and Track, the head of development on the next ST, Tyrone Johnsone confirmed that the next generation of Ford Fiesta ST will be introduced as a 2018 model and is set to make its debut before the year 2017 ends. It was mentioned in the same report that the 2018 Ford Fiesta ST will come only in a front wheel drive (FWD) drivetrain but it was also stated that there may be a chance for other drive mode options.

Other Details

According to Johnson, the 2018 Ford Fiesta ST will be available with three and five-doors but the latter will be the only available option when it arrives in the U.S market, as reported by Left Lane News. There are no details yet regarding the price of the 2018 Ford Fiesta ST but the same report stated that it would probably stay close to the current model's price range that has a base Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $21,265.
