Apple Rolls Out iOS 10.2 Beta 5 To Public Testers & Developers

Apple seeded the fifth beta build of the new software, offering a surprise update for iOS 10.2.

According to the publication Cult Of Mac, the last 10.2 beta version has been released to developers just four days before the roll our of this new beta. But this time, Apple released the iOS update at the same time for both public beta testers and developers.

The iOS 10.2 update brings a number of new features to iPhone and iPad, however Apple's release notes for iOS 10.2 beta five do not mention any major changes. The beta mostly focuses on bug fixes and under-the-hood improvements.

The beta five version of the iOS 10.2 update can be downloaded by developers directly from the Developer Center. For users who already have the installation profile on their device, the beta update can also be installed via an over-the-air update.

iOS 10.2 Features

With iOS 10.2, owners of the latest iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus handsets get three new wallpapers. All iPads and iPhones also get the new TV app with the update. New "Love" and "Celebration" screen effets for Apple's Messages app, dozen of new emoji and a new iPhone SOS feature are also included with the update.

The Videos app is entirely removed from devices in favor of Apple's new TV app. The TV app comes with a new Settings section that allows the use of cellular data for playback. Users have the option to select the video streaming quality.

According to tech experts, Apple might be hurrying to get iOS 10.2 ready for its public release. This means that the beta five could be the last beta update. Previously, Apple announced that this December itts new TV app would arrive on Apple TV devices and iOS platform.

According to BGR, the new version of iOS 10.2 comes also with the return of star ratings and new sorting options in the Music app, a widget for the Videos app, new Screen Effects, the ability to preserve previously used camera settings and an SOS feature to call 911.
