Pokemon Sun and Moon are missing the first Pokemon ever revealed to be an inhabitant of the Alola Region - Magearna. But players now have a chance to get it without much effort on their part.
This month is a good time for Pokemon players as December gives away Meleotta for Pokemon X, Y, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire and Magearna for Pokemon Sun and Moon. While it may take some steps in order to get your own for free, it's still easier than trying your luck out in the wild and battling either of the two.
How To Get Magearna
The Mythical Pokemon Magearna will be distributed via Pokemon's official website today. A QR code will be available, which will then enable users to download the creature into their 3DS. Note that you only have access to the scanner once you've become the Alola Champion.
This method of distribution was just introduced through Pokemon Sun and Moon, so it is one of the first monsters to be delivered this way. We assume that more events involving the use of the QR code scanner will be featured in the near future. The code for Magearna isn't up yet, but we'll update this page once it is.
Once you've scanned the Magearna QR code, a man will come (in the game, mind you) to give you the creature. This is the same person who gave you your Munchlax and Ash-Greninja, if you were ever qualified to receive one. You have until March 5, 2017 to get the Mythical Pokemon.
What's Special About Magearna
And that's it. You now have Magearna, a human-made Pokemon that is around 500 years old. The Steel/Fairy type Pokemon is described as an emphatic one despite being artificial.
"Magearna has the power to perceive the emotions, thoughts, and feelings of other Pokémon," says its official description. "If a Pokémon is injured, Magearna will feel the other's pain and suffering and will try as hard as it can to save that Pokémon."
It can transform into a PokeBall when it is sleeping and when it is sad. It has the Soul-Heart ability that allows it to raise its Sp. Attack stats by 1 every time another creature nearby faints. It is a newly introduced ability in the history of the franchise; we'll still have to see how this can be maximized during battle.
Get Arceus: God Of Pokemon
Arceus, which is widely believed to be the creator of the Pokemon universe, is available again as a Mystery Gift prize. It is only available for users who have Pokemon X, Y, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.
All you have to do is go to the Mystery Gift function of your game and choose "Get with Code." Enter the code ARCEUS20 to receive it. Those who already received one from GameStop in August are not eligible to get another Arceus.
Arceus and Meloetta, which is available as a Mystery Gift by downloading from the internet, are available until Dec. 31 and Dec. 24 respectively. Those who want them to be transferred to Pokemon Sun and Moon eventually will have to take the opportunity while it lasts.
With that said, Pokemon Bank that allows for transfers from Pokemon X, Y, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire to Sun and Moon is set to go live in January 2017. Until then, there's no way of getting the Mythical Pokemon from other generations to the current-gen titles.
