NES Classic Edition Latest News And Updates: Nintendo Console Available at Best Buy, Smyths and Down Under

With barely a couple of weeks before Christmas Day, there still seems to be a glimmer of hope for everyone who wants their own NES Classic Edition.

Reggie Fils-Aime, head of Nintendo of America, announced that "consumers will be able to get their hands on" the hard-to-find mini NES before Christmas. Since then, major retail stores such as Argos, Best Buy, and Smyths have indicated that they may just have some stock in the next few days.

Best Buy

The hit gaming device of the year will be re-stocked on Dec. 20 over at Best Buy. The mini NES consoles will only be available in its physical stores so consumers are advised not to waste their time online, at least for now.

Smyths

The toy retailer Smyths have also indicated that stocks of the NES Classic Edition is on their way.

The store replied to a customer who asked if Smyths would have the consoles in stock. The AskSmythsToys Twitter account replied, "Not at the moment but it should be coming into stock sometime this week!"

The store's account later tweeted that, "It's coming into stores between 9-14 Dec, we don't know exactly when in this timeframe! Keep an eye on the site about C&C".

Argos

Argos has been back and forth recently. First, it said there would be additional consoles come Dec. 9 after its stock sold out on the opening day. But the day came and went without a mini-NES in sight. Argos has so far told customers contacting them through Twitter that the console "has been discontinued" and that there is "no plan at the moment of more stock coming in".

Amazon

Amazon first tweeted last week that it had "a couple of exciting announcements to NES Classic fans make" and that fans should "stay tuned for more info soon."

It turns out, Amazon made the mini NES available only in three of its physical stores and not online. A limited number of mini NES consoles were made available at its stores in California, Oregon, and Washington. The stock will probably be sold out by the time this article rolls out the press.

Customers from outside the three states weren't too happy with the 'trolling' but they are still holding out hope that the other announcement will finally let them get their mini NES.

Target

Nintendo fans in the United States were trolled even more by Target. When the retail company announced that it will sell the console tomorrow, Dec. 12, everyone was excited. Unfortunately, it has now become apparent that the stock is headed to Australia.
