‘Justice League' Sequel Delayed, Zack Snyder Wants Break; Ben Affleck's 'Batman' Movie Steps In

The DC Universe has been catching up with times as it released one movie at a time, introducing beloved DC characters such as Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman portrayed by a whole new cast. Distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a stellar roster of DC movies are lined up for release soon. But it seems one of the awaited movies have just been delayed.

It has just been reported that the sequel for “Justice League” has been delayed. Even before the official release of “Justice League’, a sequel has already been confirmed and slated to be released in June 2019. The delay is said to be because of director Zack Snyder wanting to take a break from the production of the “Justice League” and with the most feasible reason that “Batman” movie is being pushed through for an earlier release.

Ben Affleck has revealed in July 2015 that a standalone movie for “Batman” is in the works. Ben Affleck’s portrayal of the DC dark knight was introduced in the film, “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice”, which was released in Mach 2016. The movie was a follow up to the “Superman” pilot movie, “Man of Steel”, which premiered in 2013. It also introduced the DC Amazonian princess, Diana of Themyscira, also known as Wonder Woman, who was portrayed by “Fast And Furious” actress, Gal Gadot.

Ben Affleck’s upcoming “Batman” movie has been officially titled “The Batman” for now and the director-actor has voiced out that though they are going with it for now, there is still a possibility that it will be changed. After the release of “Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice”, it has been confirmed that Affleck and Geoff Johns have already started working on the screenplay for “The Batman”. Eventually, Affeck has been officially announced as the film director at the Comic Convention 2016.

Affleck has revealed that the story of “The Batman” will be taken from the DC comics but will mainly consist of original content. The filming for “The Batman” is set to begin in spring 2017 and nobody knows what it’s going to be about. Affleck has teased earlier via Twitter that Deathstroke might be in it while Jared Leto has expressed interest, hoping that he will be reprising his role as the Joker from “Suicide Squad” in the upcoming dark knight movie.

With the “Justice League” sequel being pushed back for “The Batman”, Zack Snyder has announced that he will be taking a break from working on the upcoming DC films. In the meantime, he will be focusing on “The Last Photograph”, a project that he has been working on even before he took on “Man of Steel” and “Dawn of Justice”. It was also put into light that with Affleck putting in time to work on “The Batman”, it will be impossible for Batman to appear in the “Justice League” sequel, hence delaying it to make ends meet.

Warner Bros. is set to release “Wonder Woman” on June 2, 2017 and “Justice League” on Nov. 17, 2017. They are also working on to release more standalone DC movies starring The Flash, Aquaman, Shazam, Cyborg and the Green Lantern Corps, which will all have separate productions and set for release from 2018 to 2020. “Justice League 2” was slated to release on June 14, 2019 but Ben Affleck’s “The Batman” will be taking the said release date instead.
