"Sister Wives" season 8, episode 3 mainly focused on the Browns' celebration of new love for their daughters, Maddie and Mykelti. Maddie has already walked down the aisle, but in this episode we will witness how her family prepared for her gorgeous garden bridal shower. Also, the Brown patriarch and his wives might have just agreed on one thing for the first time, and that is to oppose Mykelti and Tony's plans of getting married.
Maddie's Farewell To Her Single Life
All four sister wives have been having their differences for quite a while now, but this time we see them working together again for two big events that will change the lives of their daughters. Episode 8 picked up on Janelle turning over her duties of preparing for her daughter's bridal shower to the other sister wives. Everyone was racing to have all things set before guests started to come in. Maddie herself was overwhelmed with the preparation for both her bridal shower and her wedding. A point even came when she talked about how crazy it was at times to have so many mothers working on her big day, not to mention that they all have their own opinions and tastes. While the sister wives argued on what might be best for their dear Maddie, the bride couldn't find a way to focus on her wedding vows.
We also saw the bride-to-be along with her four mothers heading to the shop for her dress fitting. Surprisingly, it has been possible for Maddie to lose 20 pounds and she indeed looked stunning in her gown. Her mothers were of course delighted and proud of her.
Not all things didn't go as planned though as strong winds came to mar the decors at Maddie's bridal shower area. As everyone checked in the event, guests commended how happy Maddie seemed. The sister wives though were being paranoid about the lingerie that Maddie could possibly get during her party. It can be remembered that the Brown wives planned a decent party for their daughter so she can get away from the scandalous nature of their family. They have talked about it so even if it felt awkward for the bride - most especially when she opened a camouflage bra and panty set - she played nice and accepted the presents.
Of course, the party was not only about Maddie. The sister wives also got to bond and finally had fun despite the issues pounding their family. They were excited to join the games and we definitely saw how things can cool down for a while to put the spotlight onto their daughter.
Kody Deals With Tony And Mykelti
In another part of the story, Mykelti brought Tony to their home to show her ring to everyone. However, instead of feeling thrilled, the sister wives were quick to discuss and agree that Mykelti should focus on her studies first, get a job and follow her dreams, rather than rushing into marriage and making babies. This was where Mykelti dropped her rather silly logic as to why she should marry her fiancé as soon as possible.
Initially, newly engaged Mykelti and Tony planned for an August ceremony which is only two months after Maddie's actual wedding. The Browns though were doubtful about the couple's intentions on rushing things and Mykelti stood to clarify the issue. She foresees a better wedding during the summer compared to other seasons past it. She says that she wants to get married while the season is warm so they can enjoy a fair weather on a beach honeymoon.
As the reason is certainly unacceptable and somehow ridiculous, Kody and his wives insist on a December wedding. While the parents have their own opinion on why they wanted the wedding delayed, rumors about financial crisis of the Browns continue to surround Mykelti's wedding plans.
After thinking about her parents' ideas, Mykelti agrees on the condition that her honeymoon will be financed by Kody. Surprised with his daughter's bargaining skills, Kody agrees to the condition to settle the dispute.
Bridging The Gaps Within The Browns
The first mended relationship we witnessed in this episode is that of Christine and Robin's. The rumors about these two wives may not be true after all as they took time to talk about the status of their friendship. Previously, the two were reportedly having a feud where Kendra Pollard revealed to a magazine that Christine wants to rip out the eyes of Robin. The former was allegedly jealous of Kody's fourth wife who is arguably the favorite among the sister wives. Yet in season 8, the two continue to nourish their relationship and have in fact grown closer which is evident in the past episodes.
Meanwhile, the Brown family is thinking of getting to know Tony better. This is for them to understand why he and Mykelti are in too much hurry of tying the knot and also to give him the chance to be accepted like how the Browns are with Caleb.
As for Kody and Meri who were featured heavily on the previous episodes, their issues have been off the camera this time and the conclusion for their impending separation is still hanging. Meri and Janelle, on the other hand, continue to meet with their therapist to ease the tension between them and work on their relationship.
Fans are then expecting to get more updates about the original Brown couple in the next episodes of "Sister Wives" season 8 which airs on TLC every Sunday at 10 p.m.
