"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 4 will treat fans to a one-hour midseason finale on the New Year's Day. Episodes 11 and 12 titled "The Fugitive" will feature the biggest manhunt yet in the series' history. Marshawn Lynch will guest star as himself. With one last criminal to haul, Detective Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) will be helped by a surprising ally -- his arch nemesis, Doug Judy (Craig Robinson) also known as the Pontiac Bandit.
After the Christmas episode on Dec. 13, the 99th Precinct is ready to celebrate the New Year with a bang. The official synopsis for "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 4, episodes 11 and 12 reveals there will be a mass escape of convicts from a prison van putting the streets of Brooklyn in danger. It is not revealed how many prisoners will escape but it will be the largest manhunt in the series as the whole Brooklyn Nine-nine squad is deployed.
Former National Football League running back Marshawn Lynch will guest star as himself in "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 4, episode 11. He will be the only key witness as the horde of convicts escape. The operation is made more intense as Jake and his partner, Detective Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumero) make a bet on who will arrest most of the fugitives and the loser will have to move in the winner's apartment. It looks like the police couple/rivals are ready to deepen their relationship through cohabitation. But of course, they bicker on who of them will need to move.
The competition will be rough and it will go down to the one last escaped convict on the run. Entertainment Weekly reports Jake will be teaming up with elusive car thief and con-artist Doug Judy aka Pontiac Bandit (because he has stolen more than 200 Pontiacs) in "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 4, episodes 11 and 12.
Doug made his first appearance in "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 1, episode 12 which aired in January 2014. Rose Diaz brought Doug to the 99th Precinct to help Jake catch a criminal called the Pontiac Bandit only to be revealed that it was actually him. Doug has since become a fan favorite and guested annually in the series. His character is similar to Jake -- fun, immature and easy-going.
The Pontiac Bandit was last seen in "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 3, episode 13 titled "The Cruise" as the third wheel to Jake and Amy's much-awaited vacation. The con-artist revealed he was being pursued by a hitman and the two protected him, vowing to arrest him later on. However, Doug escaped using a speed boat. It seems like Jake is excited to work with Doug but Captain Ray Holt (Andre Braugher) will think the reunion is a bad idea. After all, he has deceived and escaped the squad many times.
Last October, "New Girl" also aired an hour-long episode which includes a crossover with "Brooklyn Nine-Nine." Meanwhile, it was reported previously that the police comedy series is secured for a fifth season after sealing an agreement with NBCUniversal.
"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 4, episodes 11 and 12 titled "The Fugitive Pt. 1" and "The Fugitive Pt. 2" will air on Sunday, Jan. 1, 8:30 p.m. ET on FOX.
