Pokemon Sun and Moon is determined to open the year with something big as it announced that its upcoming January 2017 update will add two desirable features: the Pokemon Bank and Pokemon Transporter.
Pokemon Bank and Pokemon Transporter are online applications for the Nintendo 3DS console and were in use with Pokemon X and Y, and Pokemon Sapphire and Pokemon Ruby. Through these features, trainers can transfer their Pokemon from the previous games into the new Pokemon title.
What do these new additions mean to Pokemon Sun and Moon? A lot, just in case you don't know it yet. The Pokemon Bank allows trainers to transfer their Generation 6 Pokemon from Pokemon Sapphire and Ruby, and Pokemon X and Y to Sun and Moon. Pokemon Transporter, on the other hand, allows trainers to migrate their Pokemon from Pokemon White, White 2, Black, Black 2 to Sun and Moon. Trainers can also transfer their Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow monsters to Sun and Moon as well.
Pokemon Bank works similarly like the Pokemon Center where trainers can store Pokemon. However, this feature allows trainers to store up to 3000 Pokemon from the above-mentioned game. Once the transfer is complete, you will see the Pokemon Bank icon on top of your 3DS screen while the boxes can be found at the bottom. There's just one thing to remember: once you transfer your Pokemon to the bank, you will not be able to restore them back to your original game.
The Pokemon Transporter works the same way as the Pokemon Bank but can only be used with the virtual console games. And just like Pokemon Bank, you won't be able to transfer any Pokemon you have placed inside back to its original home. Moreover, Pokemon Transporter won't work without Pokemon Bank.
According to Nintendo, there is an annual pay of $4.99 when you use these features.
