With the success off Super Mario Run, Nintendo has built its confidence and is now talking about possibly releasing 2 to 3 games in a year! Super Mario Run topped the charts when it launched earlier this month, and as more people got their hands on new Apple devices during Christmas, it is one of the most popular and most downloaded games in the last quarter of 2016.
Nintendo's President, Tatsumi Kimishima, said in an interview with Macworld that it has plans of releasing 2 to 3 more games a year, starting next year, 2017. Aside from the release of Super Mario Run on Android devices, they also plan to release Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing within next year.
Super Mario Run has already received over 40 million downloads since its release early in december 2016, and Kimishima says he is confident it will reach 100 million downloads soon. Although there have been negative feedback regarding Super Mario Run's payment scheme as well as its game mechanics as Techcrunch reported, it looks like Nintendo is listening as they are currently improving in game elements such as the availability of tickets to be able to play Toad Rally Mode.
With Nintendo's newfound confidence in mobile gaming, fans can look forward to more entertaining mobile games in the next years to come as Nintendo looks like they are committed into taking over the mobile gaming space like how they took over gaming back in the 80s.
In the meantime, if you still haven't downloaded Super Mario Run, it's about time you checked it out. It's free to download on the app store, but in-app purchases are offered and it costs $9.99 to be able to unlock its full version. Android users can expect Super Mario Run to be released on Android in January 2017. While waiting, you can check out fun Super Mario Run alternatives for Android.
