Pokemon Go Update: Legendary Pokemon Arriving Next Year?

Year 2016 is almost over and it was a rollercoaster ride for the augmented reality game from Niantic. Pokemon Go has been a massive hit since the day it was released. Though the game has undergone an enormous amount of success, Pokemon Go still lacks a number of features and in-game content which they can offer for their fans. As previously reported, there are several major updates that are confirmed by Niantic and are expected to arrive soon. One of which is the addition of Legendary Pokemon.

According to the report from Otakukart, Niantic has been holding back to release these Legendary Pokemon for a special release date. It seems like fans will have to wait a bit longer for the official release of this most anticipated update. These Legendary Pokemon have been absent since Pokemon Go was released. However, it could possibly change this upcoming 2017.

As previously reported, Niantic CEO John Hanke has previously talked about Legendary Events along with several major updates such as Trading and PVP Battles. In addition, these Legendary Pokemon are expected to be introduced by the event series which should be arriving in Spring next year.

Meanwhile, fans will probably see the most awaited Gen 2 update next year. As a result, Niantic could perhaps start a Legendary Event that would feature the Legendary Pokemon in both generations. However, there are no signs of Gen 2 Legendary Pokemon in the game code just yet.

On the other hand, Pokemon Go's Christmas Event is currently going on and will officially end on Jan. 3, 2017. The event features limited edition special gift boxes which contain various in-game items that players can use. These gift boxes can be purchasable by PokeCoins.

Apparently, the purchase is currently personal and it seems like Niantic does not have any plans to integrate a feature that will enable players to gift these special boxes to their friends. However, players are hopeful that Niantic will add one in their future updates.
