Amazon, one of the biggest online retailers in the world, has recently revealed that Pokemon Sun and Moon and Final Fantasy XV were its two best-selling video games this holiday season. This confirms the claim of Nintendo that its mobile adventure app is its fastest selling video game ever.
Likewise, Final Fantasy XV, the video game that was much-anticipated by the fans, has also experienced the same marketing success. Fans have been waiting for years for the sequel of Final Fantasy XIII and when it was released, they gobbled up the supply. Its sales data also revealed that PS4 users bought more FFXV than XBox One owners.
Was It Influenced By The Holiday Spirit?
There is no doubt that the sales counter performance of Pokemon Sun and Moon is remarkable. It was released only last November and it has done pretty well in the market. The official statement released by Amazon recently just confirmed its marketing success along with Square Enix's Final Fantasy XV. The holiday spirit could also have influenced the sales results.
Commenting on the sales success of Pokemon Sun and Moon, Amazon said if every customer who bought PSAM this Christmas played the game at least one hour each day, they would have spent approximately 24 thousand lunar cycles catching Pokemon. That is how amazingly popular and invasive this game has become.
Are There Any Plans For Next Year?
Amazon did not give any details as to how it was able to arrive at the figure but it is obvious that to get into that point, it will take millions of people playing Pokemon Sun and Moon every day. Some are even speculating that Nintendo will develop a third version or at least a remake of the original game in 2017.
Square Enix must also have some plans for Final Fantasy XV and its series. Surely, these two companies would like their sales crest to continue into the coming year and even beyond. FFXV is playable on PlayStation 4 and XBox One, while the platform of Pokemon Sun and Moon is the Nintendo 3DS.
