A lot of hacking and security breach incidents have been reported this year giving us the fact that nothing is safe online anymore. Even the US president elections have been rumored to be tampered by Russian hackers. It's not being paranoid but it is also wise to pay extra precaution these days. Thus, even your gaming accounts is not safe so here's how you can make it hack-free.
One of the most effective and common method of security these days is the two-factor authentication also called sometimes as the two-step verification. By applying this to any of your account, you are ensuring that your account can only be accessed by you and you alone.
What you will do is very simple - enter two factors when you log in to any service you are using. These factors are passwords that you have to enter on your computer and a computer generated code that will be sent to your phone. Thus, without the second code, you won't be able to access you account.
With this in mind, you have to make sure that the factors you use are familiar to you but not to others. Ensure that you can easily recall it or you will be banned from your own account if you don't get the correct authentication information.
On the other hand, having a two-factor authentication in your game accounts as well as your email and other social media accounts will ensure that even if someone stole your Gmail password and you use it in all the other accounts, they will still never be able to access them because they don't have the second authentication key.
Both PSN and Microsoft have a two-factor authentication process. So does Blizzard, which has their own mobile authenticator app, GOG.Com, and Humble Bundle. On the other hand, the Nintendo network has no two-factor authentication process yet.
