On Jan. 12, Nintendo will share more details about the upcoming Switch. The presentation will be live streamed starting at 11 p.m. Eastern. But even before that, those who wish to get a Switch can already pre-order the much-awaited console.
A number of companies have already opened their lines for pre-ordering. The thing is, all of them are outside the United States.
U.S. stores of the popular video game retailer GameStop has yet to announce anything on the Switch front but over at Australia, EB Games is already accepting pre-orders. EB Games is part of GameStop after the latter bought the former some years back.
GameStop Italy has also started accepting orders for the Switch. It even posted a price - 399.98 Euros - for the yet-to-be-released hybrid console.
However, there is a rumor floating around that Nintendo has already informed retailers that they could accept pre-orders starting Jan. 13. According to the supposed letter sent to each store, only a certain number of units will be available for pre-order for each of them.
Excitement has been brewing leading to the Jan. 12 announcements and the eventual release a few months later. Some of the excitement comes from the many rumors of what games will be available on the Switch. When the Switch was introduced via a teaser trailer, a number of games were shown. Unfortunately, it seems like not all of the games in the video will be initially available. The good news is that the new Legend of Zelda game has already been confirmed. In fact, Nintendo of America head Reggie Fils-Aime debuted the Switch on National television by playing "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" with Jimmy Fallon in his show "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
As with all rumors, none are true until they are proven true. Just keep checking the websites of retail stores to see when the pre-orders do officially commence.
