Apple Watch Strap From BACtrack Can Now Tell Blood Alcohol Level In Real Time

A new Apple Watch strap unveiled by BACtrack has one awesome feature -analyzing the blood alcohol of the wearer. This special strap is convenient for checking how drunk a person is.

The BACtrack Skyn is a separate wearable device with its own wristband. There are also several Apple Watch strap choices for the device. The BACtrack Skyn is expected to be commercially available by the second or the third quarter of the year. Initial reports reveal that it would cost around $99.

BACtrack Skyn Features

Drunk driving is prohibited and BACtrack just introduced a new way to measure how sober a person is. The latest BACtrack Skyn model, which comes with Apple Watch strap options could help detect how drunk a person is with greater accuracy and in real time. This feature would be helpful to those who want to be sure if they are sober enough.

Reports from Apple Insider explain that the device will notify a person whose blood alcohol level exceeds the legal limit. The changes in blood alcohol after drinking can also be monitored by this wearable device. The said hardware is deemed to be more reliable than the existing methods such as breath analysis and self-reporting.

Apple Healthkit Support

BACTrack first announced the newest addition to its line of wearable devices during the CES 2017 trade show. The breathalyzer startup failed to indicate the compatibility between the new devices with the Apple Healthkit as noted by iDrop News. However, previous apps from BACtrack were highly integrated with the iPhone. If this is any indication, the BACTrack Skyn will also feature the same level of support from Apple Healthkit and iPhone as its predecessors.

This new technology from BACtrack and Apple could be useful to people who drink. This device that comes complete with the Apple Watch strap could improve treatment options for alcohol addiction while reducing DUI incidents.
