The Last Guardian Meets 'Moana' In Gameplay Trailer for Rime

Back in 2013, Tequila Works announced the game Rime and it was unveiled as a PS4 exclusive at Gamescom. News on the game has gone quiet since then, but three years later, the developers have decided to release a "re-reveal" trailer, and the game looks like a mix of The Last Guardian, The Legend of Zelda and Disney's "Moana." What's more, it will be available for all platforms - including the Nintendo Switch.

What Is Rime

According to Trusted Reviews, Rime is a puzzle-solving adventure game that has players controlling a boy who was shipwrecked on an island as he tries to find a way to escape and get rid of a mysterious curse. The cell-shaded graphics will remind players of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and the sea-faring theme is very similar to that of Disney's 2016 hit, "Moana." Rime also shares a premise with The Last Guardian in how a lost boy has to solve puzzles and befriend animals in order to progress throughout the game.

Availability On All Platforms

Speaking of The Last Guardian, Rime was supposed to be a PS4 exclusive just like TLG, but it has been reported that there were some disagreements between Sony and Tequila Works that lead to the game getting a new publisher. It's also possible that the disagreement was the reason why development Rime took quite a while.

The good news is, Rime will be able to play on multiple platforms and can even join in on the hype with the release of the Nintendo Switch. Hopefully Tequila Works will be able to bring something new to the table as they've had quite some time to get this game off the ground.

As of now, Rime is slated for a release this coming May, and players will be able to enjoy it on PS4, Xbox One, PC and The Nintendo Switch.
