A lot of fans are excited for the release of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild this year and the marketing team has slowly been building the hype by releasing pictures from the game online little by little. A new image that was shared seems to tease the return of a character that has appeared in previous Zelda games, Beedle the Merchant.
According to Siliconera, this theory was posted up by username "GameXplain" on Youtube who took a closer look at the picture that was posted on The Legend of Zelda's Facebook page. The image shows a ramshackle hut with the shape of a horse's head and two figures standing outside of it. One figure looks to be Link, and the other is what some fans assume to be Beedle.
The reason why people think the character is Beedle is because the figure looks to match a lot of Beedle's features. He has the red hair, the shorts, and the sandals, and what's more, he is carrying a giant backpack in what looks to be the shape of a beetle. Some people have also noticed that the character's shorts seem to have a logo that dominantly appears in Beedle's wardrobe.
The character of Beedle is a traveling merchant in the world of Zelda, and he's popped up in numerous titles over the years. Link has run into Beedle in titles like Wind Waker, The Minish Cap, Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks and Skyward Sword. He's a generally friendly character, and he always has some perks for customers who frequently visit his store.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is one of the premiere games for the Nintendo Switch, and it's expected to launch alongside the console this coming March. Aside from Link and Beedle, no other returning characters have been hinted by their return, but expect more news as the release date nears.
