There is no doubt that one of the most anticipated consoles for the year is the Nintendo Switch that looks to be mixing the best of both consoles and handheld platforms. Since the Switch is one of a kind, a lot of players are wondering what that means for developers and what kind of games they can expect on the Switch. Developers have commented on the Switch, however, and it looks like nothing but good news for Nintendo's upcoming console.
According to Nintendo Everything, some developers have been talking about the Switch and Mel Kirk, VP of Zen Studios, has some nice things to say about the console. He says that the use of Nvidia tech on the device could lead to development of games for the Switch easier. He says, "Their tools and tech are really easy to integrate, so yes, I think this makes the Switch platform much easier if not better to develop for than Wii U."
According to Gaming Bolt, the Wii and the Wii U had problems with game development because they were just too different from the regular consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One. This lead to a lot of developers opting to quit developing newer games for the Wii and Wii U. Hopefully this time around, the Switch will be using more standard tech that will not leave many game developers scratching heads.
Oddly enough, rumors had come out that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was going to be delayed because developers of the game were having a hard time with applying the game to the Nintendo Switch. With the release date now lining up with the Nintendo Switch, it looks like developers have found a way to make things pull through.
The Nintendo Switch is expected for a release this coming March.
