Square Enix has promised to reveal some new announcements this year pertaining to their upcoming video game projects especially on the anticipated remake of the classic “Final Fantasy VII” video game. Though the director has yet to reveal more news about “Final Fantasy VII Remake” and “Kingdom Hearts III” that will actually be of use to fans, Tetsuya Nomura has dished out some new information regarding the progress of the games.
Tetsuya Nomura sat down with “Weekly Famitsu”, a local line of Japanese video game magazines, and he has talked about “Final Fantasy 7 Remake” and “Kingdom Hearts 3”. Nomura has been tasked to spearhead the development of the two role-playing video games. In the said interview, he has given status updates that might just give more hope to fans who are eagerly waiting for the games’ respective releases.
Aside from the development reports, he has stated that to make up to the fans who are waiting for the two games, there will be surprises to look forward to. He pointed out that Square Enix will be paying tribute to the upcoming anniversaries of “Kingdom Hearts”, “Final Fantasy VII”, and the whole “Final Fantasy” series.
Development Status On “Final Fantasy VII Remake”
Nomura has revealed that the anticipated “Final Fantasy VII Remake” is still in its development stages. Sad to say, he has further stated that the said remake still has a long way to go, which might mean fans might not be seeing its release anytime this year or if there was release at all, it might be in the later part of 2017. But he did put in a good news that there is steady progress in the production, reassuring fans that the remake is still good to go.
Square Enix revealed the “Final Fantasy VII Remake” was initially planned in the early 2000s, originally setting it up to release on PlayStation 2 along with the remake of “Final Fantasy VIII” and “Final Fantasy IX”. But with the upcoming projects at that time, it was tough to squeeze it in without compromising the quality of the said video games. Come 2015, they have finally announced that the remake for the video game that stars Cloud Strife is finally happening. Square Enix also revealed a couple of teasers to support the announcements.
Development Status On “Kingdom Hearts III”
Meanwhile for “Kingdom Hearts III”, Nomura said that it’s kind of hard for him to explain even the general idea of the game’s development since they are taking on a different process for the latest installment compared to the previous titles but the game is indeed still being developed. He concluded that fans had to wait a little longer for “Kingdom Hearts III” as well as “Final Fantasy VII”. The official release dates have yet to be announced but both games will be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The story “Kingdom Hearts III” will pick up after the events that took place in “Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance”. The game will reprise Sora’s role as the main character and it will be the final chapter of the Dark Seeker saga. Aside from the story, Nomura has already revealed before that they will be placing back the paintbrush art from Disney productions for the game’s visual and animations.
