Pokémon Sun and Moon: Pokémon Stars To Be Released On Nintendo Switch; Release Date Revealed By GameStop

The third version of Pokémon Sun and Moon codenamed "Pokémon Stars" has been accidentally confirmed by GameStop, a major retailing video game outlet. The announcement was seen on Twitter and was later removed and replaced by a new content a couple of hours later. Check out the full story down below.

Pokémon Stars Released Date

Pokémon Stars is the third version of Pokémon Sun and Moon that was first teased last November 2016. It is said that the new version will contain enhanced visuals (higher resolution) and may also bring about new contents including brand new Alolan Pokémon. With the launching of the upcoming Pokémon Bank in Sun and Moon, players will also be able to trade Pokémon from previous generation into the present one - in the brand new platform: the Switch.

The announcement started as a rumor which was first reported by Eurogamer, but today, it appears that the rumor has been confirmed by GameStop via Twitter. The announcement was recorded by Tendo since the Tweet was then removed a couple of hours later.

The announcement suggested that Pokémon Stars will be available upon launch of the Switch which is set to be released on March 2017. Alongside Pokémon Stars' release, we can also expect the release of Splatoon, NBA, Skyrim and Zelda: Breath of the Wild - to which the latter had already confirmed its existence on the new platform. GameStop has now removed the tweet and replaced it with a new infographic detailing the list of the developers and publishers currently supporting the Switch.

We've previously reported that Nintendo might be planning on releasing all of the upcoming Pokémon iteration on the Switch primarily because of the limitation to the 3DS platform. With the upcoming release of Pokémon Stars on the new system, will we finally bid farewell to the long line of the Game Boy console?
