There are numerous factors that contributed to the decline of popularity of the phenomenal mobile app, Pokémon GO and one of them is the neglected balance updates particularly on Eevee Evolution. Today, we're going to discuss how fans react to Eevee Evolution specifically Vaporeon and how this Pokémon has indirectly killed the game.
Pokémon GO: Eevee Evolution
A growing thread on Reddit discussed how one Pokémon, albeit famous, has inadvertently killed the game. Vaporeon in particular, is known for being one of the best powerhouses in the game. It has significantly high HP and CP which is arguably one of the best, if not the best, in its type in the game. To make a detailed comparison, we're going to par it against a much rarer Pokémon, Blastoise.
Overall, Vaporeon outclass Blastoise which is to be expected given that the latter is just a starter Pokémon. But the thing is, aside from how easily accessible Vaporeon is, it also feels like the Pokémon is better than Blastoise in all aspect including soaking up damage. Despite Blastoise having a higher defensive stat value, it still fails to do what it does best - and that is tanking.
On the other hand, Vaporeon has higher HP and it feels like this value offers a lot more than the Defense stats -well, as far as this patch go; making this Pokémon a much better tank. What's more, with its high Special Attack stat, it's pretty much clear why all people prefer this over Blastoise - a Pokémon which is a thousand times harder to find; an irony that only exist in Pokémon GO considering that Blastoise is just an evolved form of a starter Pokémon.
The Problem
While most fans agree that Vaporeon should stay as what it is, they also feel like Niantic should buff Pokémon that are intended to tank. Despite Blastoise sitting at the top of the list for having the highest defense stat in the game, it feels like the current values aren't enough. The proposed solution to mitigate the issue is to raise the defensive stat of these Pokémon to make them feel more durable - a factor that's currently missing in the game.
