Recent developments in the video gaming industry seem to indicate that physical media is far from being dead. THQ Nordic, the publisher of Halo Wars 2 has done something that is strange for those who are hooked on online and digital selling. The publisher has opted to release the popular title on Fancy Box covers, physically, not digitally.
The Popular Video Game Will Be Sold In Physical Stores
THQ Nordic has recently announced that it is collaborating with 343 Industries and Microsoft Studios to create a Windows 10 version of Halo Wars 2 and sell the game through physical retail stores all over the world. And in order to attract more fans, buyers of the video game will also be given access to the digital game on Xbox One.
Physical copies of Halo Wars 2 will be offered in two modes, Ultimate and Standard. Both types will give access to the video game on Xbox One by way of the Play Anywhere feature. But the Ultimate edition will come with the Halo Wars 2 season pass. This will give buyers of the Ultimate version advance access to the game for four days, plus an "enhanced" release of Halo Wars: Definitive Edition.
Here Are The Release Dates And Prices Of Halo Wars 2
The Ultimate Edition of the video game will launch on Feb. 17, 2017 at the price of $80 a copy. Halo Wars 2 standard edition will be released on Feb. 21, 2017 and will go for $60 a-piece. Both release dates and prices of the two editions are the same with that of their digital versions. During this period, gamers can play the video game at the PC Gamer Weekender scheduled on Feb. 18 to Feb. 19 in London.
Lars Wingefors, Founder and CEO of THQ Nordic, said that he appreciates the fact that his company was able to buy this big franchise. He added that their partnership with Microsoft in 2016 has allowed them to work with so many titles, and that they were encouraged to start the year with another partnership which will release physical copies of Halo Wars 2.
