The 2018 Chevrolet Equinox has made its debut at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show and it looks like the new model brought a couple of good news with it. Apparently, the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox has been made lighter and better than ever before.

2018 Chevrolet Equinox: Made Lighter

It is common knowledge that when a vehicle is lighter, it's easier for it to propel itself. According to report the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox has been made lighter by 400 pounds compared to the previous model and this has allowed it to be fitted with a four-cylinder engine. In addition, the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox will also have a diesel engine for the first time as reported.

2018 Chevrolet Equinox: More Power Options

Thanks to the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox losing weight, buyers now get more options in terms of the powertrain. According to report from The Car Connection, the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox starts with a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers 170 horsepower and 201 pound-feet of torque. This will be paired with a six-speed automatic transmission that delivers the power through a front wheel drive (AWD) setting. Accordingly, all trims except for the base L will receive an option for an all-wheel drive (AWD) configuration.

The other engine is a 2.0-liter turbo-4 that can crank up 252 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque that will be offered in the LS trim. This will be matched with a nine-speed automatic transmission as reported. Finally, there is the 1.6-liter turbodiesel that is capable of putting out 136 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque.

2018 Chevrolet Equinox: Features

Reports state that the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox is packed with features both in the aspects of safety and infotainment. Accordingly, the 2018 Chevrolet equinox has a seven and eight-inch touch screen for its infotainment that also supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In addition, the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox also has a 4G Wi-Fi for connectivity. In the safety aspect, the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox has front collision alert, blind spot alert, lane keep assist, safety alert driver seat and low-speed autonomous emergency braking as reported.

2018 Chevrolet Equinox: Price And Availability

The 2018 Chevrolet Equinox is available in four trims from the base L, LS, LT and Premier. The base trim L has a starting price of $24,475 followed by the rest with prices of $26,750, $27,260 and $30,790 respectively as reported. No exact date has been revealed yet but the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox is expected to hit showrooms in March.
