The LG Optimus 4X HD Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update is arriving for European users.
The Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update includes several new features such as Project Butter, Google Now and a constant frame rate via Vertical Sync. Project Butter will allow for smoother performance overall and Google Now is a feature whereby the phone provides information like the weather, traffic expectations and train arrivals.
Currently the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update is for LG Optimus 4X HD smartphones that are unlocked and SIM-free; however it should be coming to the operator-branded LG Optimus 4X HD sometime soon.
The update won't be available over the air and users will need a PC for installation. It will also require the LG Update tool, which can be found here.
The LG Optimus 4X HD has a 4.7-inch IPS multi-touch HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. It has a quad core 1.5GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage. Other features include a 2,150mAh battery with a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera and 8 megapixel rear-facing camera.
A leak of the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for the LG Optimus 4X HD appeared back in March with a version number of V20A. Users who downloaded the update reported new features, smoother operation, longer battery life and a stronger network signal. OTC, however, does not work on the build and the bootloader is locked. Users also reported that certain apps were missing.
