More evidence of Pokemon GO Generation 2 arises as dataminers discover some interesting finds hidden in the APK code. Among the additions are 38 new moves, more evolution items, new Pokemon forms and more. Here's everything that hints to the arrival of more Gen 2 monsters.
Pokemon GO APK Code Adds Assets For 38 New Moves
After Ditto's Transform move, Pokemon GO has never added more moves for its existing roster of creatures. That is until now. Some digging into the v.0.53.1 APK revealed that the game is preparing for 38 new moves. Aside from the codes, assets have also been already added, which means that they could go live anytime soon.
Among the new Pokemon GO Quick Moves and Charge Moves are Iron Tail, Powder Snow, Dynamic Punch, Zap Cannon, Future Sight, Mirror Coat, Outrage and Crunch. These were all introduced in Pokemon Gold and Silver, which brought about Gen 2. This possibly means that more next-generation monsters are coming soon with these moves such as Steelix, Swinub, Porygon2 and more.
Pokemon GO To Have New Evolution Mechanics?
The usual Pokemon title calls for a specific evolution requirement for each Pokemon. It can either be a friendship level, an item, learning a certain move, time of day, type of weather and more. So far, the only methods that Pokemon GO displays are by use of candies and naming (in the case of Eevee).
The Silph Road dataminers discovered Evolution items, namely Sun Stone, Kings Rock, Metal Coat, Dragon Scale and Upgrade. The only Pokemon from Gen 2 that can be evolved using Sun Stone is Sunkern, hinting its arrival to the mobile app.
King's Rock, on the other hand, can evolve Gen 1 Pokemon Poliwhirl and Slowpoke to Gen 2 creatures Politoed and Slowking respectively. Other Pokemon GO Gen 2 monsters that may arrive soon include Steelix and Scizor, which are both achieved using Metal Coat on their respective pre-evolutions, and Kingdra using Dragon Scale.
Unown Forms Have Been Added To The Code
Unown from Generation 2 takes many forms: the 26 Latin alphabet, question mark "?" and exclamation point "!" shapes. So far, the forms referenced in the Pokemon GO code are Unown A, Unown B, Unown C, Unown Z, Unown Question Mark and Unown Exclamation Point.
More Pokemon Shiny And Gender References Found
While not specifically alluding to Generation 2, strings that support the previously introduced codes for Shinies and Pokemon genders have been found yet again. Reports speculate that they are coming soon to Pokemon GO, but when exactly remains to be seen.
It is currently unknown how genders will play out in Pokemon GO, but it might allow for breeding. If this is the case, then players may soon be able to manipulate stats, natures, abilities and even Shinies. It is known among fans that the concept was first introduced in Generation 2, so there is a possibility that it will come alongside the rest of the second batch of Pokemon.
Niantic has yet to make an announcement regarding any of the points mentioned here. While it is likely that these are coming sooner than later, there is still a small chance that the developers scrap an idea entirely. Pokemon GO fans will have to wait for official word before setting the hype bar up high.
