HTC One Launches In India for ₹42,900

Come the end of April, HTC fans in India can lay their hands on the Taiwan-based company's flagship smartphone for 2013, the HTC One.

The Android-powered smartphone from HTC is priced at ₹42,900 (approximately $789) for the SIM-free version.

"HTC has finally announced the launch of the much-awaited HTC One in India. The phone will be available in India by the end of April at a price of Rs 42,900. The phone runs Google's Android software, but HTC is grafting its own home screen on the phone, one that's similar to that of Microsoft's Windows Phone software," notes an IBN Live report.

The HTC One was announced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2013 in February, but the smartphone's release met with several unwarranted delays, owing to supply issues, and was pushed back from March to April.

The pricing of the HTC One in India is quite steep, especially when compared to the price tags sported by previous offerings from the company. Interestingly, the HTC Butterfly was priced at ₹45,990 (approximately $845) at launch and continues to command the same price, making it more expensive than the flagship.

It is possible that the HTC Butterfly sees a price drop in the coming days, before the HTC One hits the Indian shelves. The HTC One X and One X+ have seen a slash in pricing in the country.

The HTC One sports a 4.7-inch Full HD display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution. The smartphone houses a 1.7 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, a 2-UltraPixel primary camera (4 megapixels) with LED flash, BSI Sensor and Opticial Image Stabilization. The HTC One has a 2.1-megapixel HD secondary snapper, 2GB of Ram, 32/64GB of on-board memory, and a 2300mAh battery.

The smartphone will come pre-loaded with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean with the new HTC Sense UI and HTC BlinkFeed on top.

The smartphone will come with 1GB of free 3G data for three months for Reliance GSM customers, along with free WhatsApp and Facebook access for three months.
