A new version of the CyanogenMod custom ROM, CM10.1 was apparently released this week for the international Samsung Galaxy S3, model GT-I9300. This international variant runs the 1.4 GHz quad-core Exynos processor.
The updated custom ROM from CyanogenMod features Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 and boasts many improvements. Some of the new features international Galaxy S3 owners will experience are new lock screen widgets, a new camera app and an updated Google Now.
As reported by IBTimes, The CyanogenMod custom ROM supports some new custom features, such as OpenVPN, lock screen gestures, Incognito mode, custom led control, full customized messaging and more. The ROM is in the nightly build stage of development right now, so there may be a few bugs, although it's still usable. To fix any glitches that may pop up, the team at CyanogenMod will surely correct with updates.
Prior to installing any custom ROM, it's important to first back up your device so that you won't lose any valuable information and files. Also, your device must be rooted and have the ClockworkMod custom recovery. Battery life must be at least 80 percent
Those wishing to customize their devices should understand the risks involved with rooting and installing custom ROMs. Rooting your device and applying a new custom ROM will void the warranty with the phone's manufacturer or even brick your device.
