Pioneer has revealed its first Blu-ray discs burners, which officially support 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray discs (UHD) for PCs. These discs drives are BDR-S11J-BK and BDR-S11J-K models. The new discs drives will be a top-of-range ODDs with a number of specific requirements.
The BDR-S11J-BK is a higher-end version of the Blu-ray discs drive, which offers improved audio quality. Both Pioneer models have advanced optical disc drives in a 5.25 inches SATA 3.0 interface. These optical discs drives are capable of playing and recording CD, DVD and Blu-ray discs.
The BDR-S11J-X provides a better playback quality of the audio CD. It offers a playback in four levels and displays an "Audio CD Check Function", which is suitable for CD ripping applications. The 4K Blu-ray looks digitally perfect for home theater technology, which has a 4 MB buffer underrun protection. It supports 16 times burning speed for a 25 GB BD-R SL media layer.
According to Pioneer, the new discs drives are equipped with PureRead. It improves the re-reading performance of the original sound playback to gather data on the audio CD. It also reduces the frequency of data interpolation via Real Time Pure Read, which functions to play music on PCs.
Optimum Specs of Blu-ray Discs Drives
For recording and play discs, it is compatible with BD, DVD, CD. The installation posture of the drives is horizontal-vertical with external dimensions of 148 mm width, 42.3 mm in height and dimension of 181 mm. It has a mass of 740 g, as noted on The Verge.
Operating Requirements
Windows 10 supports the Ultra HD Blu-ray drives. The users need an AAC 2.0 and Intel Software Guard Extensions (SGX), a suitable optical disk drive, a GPU with an HDMI 2.0a output, software that handles UHD BD playback and a 4K display that has an HDCP 2.2 input.

The Ultra HD Blu-ray plays movies, animation, music, DVD and Blu-ray via PowerDVD 14, which supports CPRM and AVCRE. It also can edit HD movies via PowerDirector 14. The PowerProducer 5.5 helps create discs from high-resolution video to a compatible BDXL contents. The InstantBurn 5 offers drag-and-drop files on the discs, which helps add and delete files easily.
