Nexus 5, Motorola X, More: Top 5 Reveals We Hope To See At Google I/O 2013

With the Google I/O conference in San Francisco less than a month away (May 15 - 17), we can't help create a round-up of the Top 5 Reveals we're hoping to see, especially when it comes to such forthcoming goodies as Nexus 5, Motorola X and plenty more where that comes from.

There are certainly plenty of rumors still swirling around a lot of the products many of us are looking forward to (such as the Nexus 5, the Motorola X and even the likes of Android Key Lime Pie). But that doesn't mean we can't still hope for at least a few of these suckers to show up in mid-May with at long last all the information we need until their release dates.

Nexus 5

Also known as "Megaladon," this next-gen device after Google's LG-made Nexus 4 will likely boast a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, though there's also speculation that it may actually come with a 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor.

Along with such a powerful processor, the Nexus 5 will likely come with plenty of other handy-dandy features/specs such as: a 2800mAh or 3300mAh battery, 9- or 16-megapixel "primary snapper" and 2-megapixel front-facing camera, 16/32/64GB on-board memory variants and 3GB of RAM.

There are also rumors that the Nexus 5 will be the first device to come with Android Key Lime Pie.

Most recent rumors suggest the Nexus 5 might actually not be revealed at the Google I/O conference, however, as Google may instead be showing us the 32GB version of the LG Nexus 4 instead.

"We have now heard that there could be a 32GB version of the LG Nexus 4 coming to Google I/O instead with LTE and CDMA bands," Sidhtech says. "This would be more plausible than the LG Nexus 5 as storage was an issue with the LG Nexus 4 and so was the lack of LTE."

There are further rumors still that we won't see the Nexus 5 until October.

Motorola X

Though we've all been talking about the Motorola X for some time now, there's still very little we actually know about it. As with the Nexus 5, a lot of the Motorola X information we have at this time is mired in rumor and speculation.

There are even some hints of a Motorola X tablet in addition to the phone.

The Motorola X is expected to come with a 1080p 4.7-inch display, along with a particularly thin bezel.

"Other rumors, meanwhile, suggest the 4.7-inch is real but that the resolution is actually 1280 x 768 and buffered by a Gorilla Glass 3 screen," iTech Post said recently. "It's supposed to be waterproof up to 30 minutes and pack a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core Krait 400 CPU."

As with the Nexus 5, there are also rumors still that despite the fact many believe the Motorola X will be revealed at the Google I/O conference, it too may be delayed. This time, the device we're looking forward to may be shown off in August.

Babble

Though there are those who are spelling it as the Biblical "Babel," including Android Community, which very recently showed us some pretty nifty leaks to the forthcoming Google development that will unify the many Google chat services .

These chat services to be unified under Babble/Babel include: "Google Talk (with separate versions on Gmail and Google+), Google Voice, Google Hangout, Google Drive collaboration chats and more."

Geek.com tells us that in addition to a possible unveiling of Android Key Lime Pie, we could see a presentation of some sort about Babble/Babel at the Google I/O.

Nexus 7 2

Also known as the Nexus 7.7 (due to its allegedly coming with a 7.7 inch screen), this next-gen tablet will likely be manufactured by Asus and may run you as much as $149 - $199.

There are rumors too that we can expect of the Nexus 7 2 a higher ppi, 3G service and perhaps a screen that may actually be 8 inches instead of just 7.7 inches. This would allow the Nexus 7 2 to compete with alternative products like the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 and iPad Mini, according to International Business Times.

As for OS, it's possible the Nexus 7 2 will be the device to come out with Android Key Lime Pie first, which is yet another reason some are assuming it will be unveiled at the Google I/O conference, along with the Key Lime Pie unveiling.

Android Key Lime Pie

That leaves us with what might be the hottest (and by now most assured) Google development we're (quite) likely to see at Google I/O.

Despite the fact that Google has yet to officially call Android 5.0 "Key Lime Pie" yet, it's quite a sure bet we'll be seeing something of the kind unveiled at the Google I/O conference, along with whatever device(s) will run on the OS first.
