Images of the Lamborghini Aventador LP720-4 50 Anniversario Edition have leaked ahead of the Shanghai Motor Show. The pictures are provided courtesy of German car magazine Autobild.
The vehicle is being released by Lamborghini as part of its 50th anniversary celebration. The most immediately noticeable feature of the new Aventador is its bright yellow paint job. The shade is called "Giallo Maggio," which means "Yellow May" in Italian. The exterior also includes a black aero package with side panels and a new rear diffuser. The car also has black alloy wheels. Aerodynamic efficiency is said to be improved by 50 percent, thanks to redesigned lower carbon-fiber aero elements.
In terms of specs, the Aventador will sport the same 6.5-liter V12 engine as the basic Aventador. The car makes 720 hp with Lamborghini's ISR (independent shifting rod) transmission sending power to all four wheels. The Aventador is estimated to go from 0 to 62 in 2.9 seconds with a top speed of 217 mph.
According to Carscoops, Lamborghini will be releasing 100 of the anniversary edition Aventador. More information regarding the vehicle should surface over the course of the coming weeks.
The Shanghai Auto Show takes place from April 23 to 29. Other vehicles expected to be featured at the show include the Mercedes-Benz GLA concept, Audi A3, a Buick concept car, a Ford concept, a Mazda6 sedan, a Volkswagen concept, Suzuki Authentics and Porsche Panamera. The show began in 1985 and alternates with the Beijing Auto Show in China.
