2018 Subaru Legacy Preview: Here’s What We Know So Far

The 2018 Subaru Legacy is all set to make its debut at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show that is scheduled to take place a week from now and many people are already excited about it. There are a lot of expectations for the upcoming model and here's what we know so far.

2018 Subaru Legacy: Upcoming Powertrain

The 2018 Subaru Legacy has received many upgrades in different aspects including the powertrain. Apparently, the new model will be less noisy than the outgoing model thanks to the adjustments made by the automaker. Given the fact that the 2018 Subaru Legacy is a luxury car, this move by Subaru was very wise indeed.

As for the engines, it was reported by Autoweek that the same engines from the outgoing model will be fitted in the 2018 Subaru Legacy. The 2.5i, Premium and Sports trims will all be equipped with the 2.5-liter boxer engine that delivers 175 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. The Legacy 3.6R trim will be powered by the 3.6-liter flat-six that cranks out 256 horsepower while the Limited trim will get either engine depending on buyer's preference.

In addition, the 2018 Subaru Legacy will be paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) regardless of which trim you choose. This will be deliver the power through the proven symmetrical all-wheel drive (AWD) configuration. For those that are hoping for a manual transmission, sad to say it is not going to happen.

2018 Subaru Legacy: Exterior Refresh

Compared to the outgoing model, the 2018 Subaru Legacy certainly looks better. It has a new grille with wider dimension along with new headlights that features a sharp look. It also has a new C-shaped LED daytime running lights to go along with a refreshed front bumper. To cut the long story short, the 2018 Subaru Legacy basically says "luxury" with its new looks.

2018 Subaru Legacy: Interior Updates

The 2018 Subaru Legacy has also received a few tweaks in its interior. The cabin of the 2018 Subaru Legacy will greet you with an upgraded air conditioning system and a new clock that is better than the one in the outgoing model. Another most welcome feature is the eight-inch touchscreen for Subaru's StarLink infotainment system that now supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Several apps are also installed including Best Parking, Yelp, Magellan Navi and eBird. Seriously, that last one will really be there for you.

2018 Subaru Legacy: Debut And Official Launch

The 2018 Subaru Legacy is scheduled to make its debut at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show that will be taking place next week. This will soon be followed by its market launch. According to Digital Trends, the 2018 Subaru Legacy will hit showrooms across the country this coming summer but no exact date has been revealed yet. The price for the upcoming 2018 Subaru Legacy has also not yet been announced but it is expected to be revealed as the launch date draws closer.

In any case, the arrival of the 2018 Subaru Legacy is certainly worth the wait. There are already a lot of people that are anxious to get their hands on the upcoming Legacy and the numbers are bound to go higher after the 2018 Subaru Legacy makes its debut.
