HTC One, Dinosaurs, Star Factory, Galaxy Note 3, Twitter Music, And More

It's hard keeping up with the news. Even if we limit ourselves to the technology and science worlds there are so many reports within a single day that even the most dedicated reader is bound to miss numerous important, interesting, or just plain weird revelations.

The situation isn't any different here at iTech Post, where so many stories are published even our staff can have difficulty keeping up with reading them all. That said, we've decided to do you, our reader, a favor and compile some of the most talked-about and interesting stories right here.

At the end of each week, our Hits & Misses column brings you two lists of articles that are worthy of your attention. "Hits" is pretty self-explanatory, as it includes five of our most popular pieces from the last week. "Misses," meanwhile, will contain noteworthy and quirky articles that weren't quite as popular, but are worthy of your attention anyway.

Hits

1. HTC badly needs the HTC One to do well when it goes on sale, but at least in terms of quality, the phone has impressed at least one of our writers. Jimmie went hands-on with the device in NYC, and came away saying the Android experience just went up another level.

2. The universe continues to confound, as this week astronomers discovered a new galaxy which produces 3,000 sun-like stars every year. Every year. That's crazy.

3. In the world of smartphones, everyone's always looking towards the next big thing, and it's not different with the Galaxy Note 3. We rounded up five reasons to hold onto that Note 2 you've come to love.

4. The world's oldest man just got a little older on Friday, when Jiroeman Kimura of Japan turned 116. Considering both the oldest man and oldest woman now live in Japan, maybe we should start paying attention.

5. As the next-gen video game race heats up between the PS4 and Xbox 720, could we see the introduction of wearable controllers and motion-controlled MMOs?

Misses

1. We like to think evolution is pretty easy to understand: Things change when they need to in order to survive. But a few revelations this week caused us to step back and consider the theory in new ways.

2. Twitter released a brand new app called Twitter #Music this week, integrating Spotify, Rdio, and iTunes in some interesting ways. We tried it out and came back with our first impressions

3. You know what topic is always cool? Dinosaurs. And scientists discovered a new one this week in Madagascar.

4. We're finally starting to get more efficient forms of wind farms and solar panels, but it looks like no one wants to build them anymore. Global investment in renewable energy is at its lowest level since 2008, and no one's quite sure when it's coming back up.

5. AFI singer Davey Havok is now an author. Havok wrote a novel following a character obsessed with modern pop culture and social media, and we talked to him about it here.
