'This Is Us' Finale Won't Be A Tragedy; Mandy Moore Assures Fans Will Not See A Funeral

Even though it is expected to bring viewers to tears, "This is Us" lead star Mandy Moore assures fans that the series finale won't be all tragedy. Recently, the actress posted a photo of the cast which looked like they are dressed for a funeral. The series is notorious for its gut-wrenching scenes.

"Good day at the office. Sad to say goodbye to these faces for the season. Too much fun. Too many laughs. #thisisus #thebackofanegg" Moore wrote in the photo caption, which quickly triggered various reactions from fans. The actress quickly updated the post saying it's not a funeral and wrote: "***Update- the photo is dark. No one is in black actually. Everyone breathe. We're at Kevin's play. Hence the hashtag."

Kevin, played by Justin Hartley is Moore's (Rebecca in the series) on-screen son in "This is Us" and the photo features the whole family supporting him in his first New York stage performance with the play "Back of an Egg." Previously, the series hinted the death of two characters - Rebecca's husband, Jack Pearson (Milo Ventimiglia) and William Hill (Ron Cephas Jones).

Fans are speculating "This is Us" finale will feature Jack's funeral. The rumors further fired up with Ventimiglia's latest tweet concerning the season finale. "Just read the season finale. Holy s*** hang onto your loved ones you're gonna need a hug," the actor said.

Jack's death was confirmed at the end of "This is Us" episode 13 titled "Three Sentences" in the 1990s timeline. The cause of death and the exact date isn't known yet but Jack is still shown in flashbacks. In the present timeline, it was revealed that Randall's biological father, William is battling late stage cancer.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, "This is Us" creator Dan Fogelman said the nature of Jack's death will take much longer to reveal. He added that even though his death isn't directly revealed until recently, it was evident even in the series pilot. "This is Us" finale will air on March 7, 2017.
