Asus may not compete on the same level as other Android device makers like Samsung, but it does have a strong record of bringing updates to its devices, and now one is coming to the ASUS MeMo Pad Smart ME301T, with an Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update.
The Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update is currently available for ASUS MeMo Pad Smart ME301Ts in the U.S. No word has yet been given on when the update will be available globally, but it is not expected to be long before that happens.
The update from Android 4.1 Jelly Bean won't change much in terms of performance, but will provide some significant upgrades. These include improved text prediction, the new Android 4.2 keyboard and the allowance of multiple user accounts on one tablet. Also included are lock screen widgets and a few bug fixes.
Among Asus' 10-inch tablet offerings, the MeMo Pad is the cheapest, at $299. Despite that fact, the specs of the device remain respectable, including a 10.1-inch 1280 x 800 screen, an Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of memory.
Though not as significant a boost as if the update were replacing Ice Cream Sandwich, the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update should still be a welcome upgrade for users of the ASUS MeMo Pad Smart ME301T. The update should roll out in the coming weeks. If you're not up for waiting, though, you can download the update directly by visiting the Asus support site here.
