The release of Rockstar Games' Red Dead Redemption 2 is getting a lot of fans hyped up for the fall season, but some GTA Online players can't help but be worried about the fate of their game; they're worried that RDR 2's online features could affect the updates for GTA Online once the game is released. Take-Two CEO, Strauss Zelnick, however, comments on those concerns, and he says that whatever comes to RDR 2 will not affect GTA Online.
GTA vs. RDR 2
During a quarterly financial conference call, Zelnick comments about the fate of the two games. He says, "I don't think there is any competitive dynamic with any of our upcoming releases... I think the success of Red Dead [Redemption 2], which is highly anticipated, will be driven by its quality, and I think that the ongoing success of Grand Theft Auto Online is driven by its extraordinary quality."
As for the online features in Red Dead Redemption 2, Zelnick declined to make any comment. Rest-assured, Rockstar will probably reveal more details as the year trudges along. With E3 2017 coming out in June, that could be the opportune moment to announce what else is coming to Rockstar's next game.
GTA Online Doomed?
Rumors had come out that the release of RDR 2 may lead to the slow and eventual death of GTA Online. The reason for which was because the company simply didn't have enough developers to continue working on all the games that are coming out. With devs working on RDR 2 and GTA VI, not enough hands are there to manage GTA Online.
Then again, rumors are rumors. Seeing that the two games are completely different genres, some gamers may want to hold on to GTA Online even after Red Dead Redemption 2 releases this fall.
