A suspicious man who pointed a gun at Fountain Inn police officers and then secured himself inside an apartment Thursday afternoon is now in law enforcer care, as per Fountain Inn Police Chief Keith Morton.
Morton said the man was being hostile to shoot others including himself when police were called to an apartment complex at 1216 N. Main St. earlier Thursday. The man then pointed a shotgun at the officers before securing himself in the apartment, Morton said.
The Suspect Even Pointed The Gun To His Mother And Grandmother
Morton said the suspect also pointed the gun to his mother and grandmother and seemed to be under the influence of drugs." We were talking to him the whole time trying to get him to come out," the police chief said. Sgt. Ryan Flood with the Greenville County Sheriff's Office said Fountain Inn requested SWAT assistance about 3:20 p.m.
Shots Was Heard Direct Towards The Responding Police Officers
The Sheriff's Office had earlier said the man "repeatedly shot" at police officers. The man submitted himself shortly before 4:30 p.m. and was taken to the hospital to be evaluated, as per Morton.
Police say Bland is being evaluated at the hospital will likely be elated directly to the imprisonment afterwards. No officers or civilians were injured and the public is safer now, police said. Bryson Dr. and North Main Street were blocked off as detectives handled the situation. No other evidence is being released now.A woman who says she and her boyfriend have known the suspect for a couple of years, spoke with FOX Carolina.
She was shocked to learn he was involved in the standoff and that he's a good guy that maybe "got tangled in the wrong thing." Investigation yet to conclude if the suspects was under of some sort of drugs.
