Destiny 2 Geared For Casual Players; Hardcore Players May Stay Away

Destiny 2 is all set for release on autumn of this year. Activision and Bungie's desire to make the game more casual friendly may turn off the hardcore fans though.

Activision Reveals Plans For Destiny 2

Activision head Eric Hirshberg promised that Destiny 2 will surpass its predecessor in terms of storyline, characters and gameplay. He also revealed plans to make the upcoming game more attractive to casual players, according to Eurogamer. Such remark has sparked fears that hardcore players may no longer find the game challenging enough. Hirshberg has assured the devoted fans though that they will not neglect them. Unfortunately, both publisher and developer have yet to reveal how they intend to make Destiny 2 appeal to both groups.

Rumored Storyline Confirmed

There were rumors that the upcoming Bungie game's storyline will start right after the Taken King expansion. This speculation seemed to have been confirmed as the team that created that expansion is the one developing Destiny 2.

The upcoming sequel should have come out last year but has been pushed back for a 2017 release. There have been reports that Bungie is getting help from Activision sister studios to help speed up the release. There are also speculations that the new Destiny game will have monthly or bimonthly events similar to ones in Overwatch. Interestingly, both Blizzard and Bungie are both owned by Activision. Additional contents will reportedly come out at a much faster pace than in the current installment.

Destiny Character Transfer

Gaming fans and players are also concern if they can transfer their old Destiny characters to the upcoming sequel. There are also unconfirmed reports that Bungie will use a new game engine for Destiny 2. This will allow the developer to introduce more customization options. Unfortunately, this may make the old characters incompatible with the upcoming game. So far, neither Bungie nor Activision has made any clarifications on this issue.
