Pokemon GO Update: Bots Placed More Lures During Valentine's Day Event

Niantic released Valentine's Day event in Pokemon Go last week and several Pokemon Go fans was again given enough motivation to go out and catch these cute little creatures. As previously reported, the event will bring and increase spawn to all Pink Pokemon, double candy drop on Buddy Pokemon and a massive increase in duration for Lure Modules. Meanwhile, fans recently observed that there's a significant increase regarding the number of Lure Modules installed in each PokeStop.

According to the report from Otakukart, it was initially predicted that the game is seeing more active players since the Valentine's Day event. In fact, it has been assumed that active players are responsible in placing more Lure Modules in Pokestops. Instead, they were actually placed by players who are using bots.

Though it is quite understandable using a bot to place several lures around the area, however, it seems like it got a little bit out of control. It was reported that most Lures present in big cities have been installed by accounts using a scanner application.

Based on the report, these scanner applications enable players to bot. Apparently, it is harder for these accounts to get banned even though their in-game names are obviously fake. This is due to their activity appearing to be completely normal.

The report mentions that getting free Lure Modules from particular level up bonuses is the main reason why these players are using scanners on dummy accounts. Upon receiving the free Lure Modules, the bot account will then install it to the nearby PokeStop so the main account can make use of it.

On other Pokemon Go news, Valentine's Day Event will officially end today at 11 am PT. Pokemon Go is now available for Android and iOS devices.
