‘The Good Wife’ Spinoff: Everything You Need To Know About 'The Good Fight'

The upcoming spin-off of "The Good Wife" is set to premiere on February 19, and it will have 10 episodes. "The Good Fight" follows the story of Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) after she was forced out of the law firm, and a huge financial scam destroys the reputation of her goddaughter Maia (Rose Leslie) and Diane's savings.

"The Good Fight" Will Also Focus On Two Other Female Casts

CBS will air the spin-off's premiere at 8 p.m. on Sunday, and it will also be available on CBS All Access. According to Vogue, the premiere will show Lockhart watching Donald Trump's inauguration, mouth agape. This scene was rewritten because Baranski said that it was "on the supposition that we would have a female president."

The Hollywood Reporter said that "The Good Fight" will bring Maia as a new co-lead. The show will also focus on Lucca Quinn (Cush Jumbo) an underestimated but brilliant attorney. Other casts include Sarah Steele as Marissa Gold, Justin Bartha as Colin, Lucca's love interest, and Delroy Lindo as Robert Boseman. Bernadette Peters and Paul Guilfoyle will be recurring casts, and they will star as Maia's parents.

"The Good Fight" Will Follow The Country Into A New Moment

The spin-off will follow the country into a new national moment. Future episodes will cover timely topics like fake news, a Milo Yiannopoulos-like figure, and also some hand-wringing at an African-American law firm about how to represent a pro-Trump client.

Marc DeBevoise, president and chief operating officer of CBS Interactive said that "The Good Fight" promises to deliver not only more ambitious premium programming for their subscribers, but also an "opportunity for world-class creators like Robert and Michelle King to push the envelope in new ways." The fact that the show is available exclusively on CBS means the show is going to be free from network restrictions, so the characters can swear as much as they like.
