New Diet Could Reduce Major Diseases

A new diet comes along every so often that tries to give people better health as well as reducing major diseases. Now a scientifically made diet has been made that could possibly do that. A new diet could reduce major diseases, as a study shows.

A low calorie diet has been made for research. The new diet is a fasting mimicking diet made by researchers from the University of California Leonard Davis School of Gerontology. Much benefits have been seen from the five-day diet plan.

One of the benefits seen from the new diet is a reduction of cardiovascular risks from those who took it. The study has 71 participants take on three cycles of the diet. Glucose as well as IGF-1 have seen reductions as well.

Overall, many risks from major diseases have been reduced by the new diet. These diseases include diabetes, cancer and heart disease. Age-related illnesses have been reduced as well. Physically, the participants have been noted to have slimmer waist lines and lesser body fat. Muscle mass has not been affected by the new scientific diet.

Valter Longo, a director of the USC Longevity Institute and a professor of Biological Sciences has said that health benefits have been seen with the fasting mimicking diet that has been made. An earlier study has been made using lab mice, though this is the first time that a clinical trial has been made, according to the USC Press Room. The study has found the diet to be effective and safe for humans to use.

100 people have been part of the study. The study was made from April 2013 to July 2015. Two groups were made for the test. One group was the control group while the other was on the diet group, as Science Daily reports. The control group continued their normal eating habits while the diet group was on the diet for three months.

The diet mimicked that of a water-only fast diet. People on the diet group consumed only 750 to 1,100 calories per day. Portions of fat, protein and carbohydrates have been in proper proportions for the diet group.

Losses for the diet group have been significant. An average of six pounds has been lost by those on the diet group. About one to two inches from the waist have also been reduced from the waist. This shows that the fasting mimicking diet has been effective overall.

With new diets coming out, people are looking for the next best diet that can help lose weight. A new diet has been found to reduce major diseases. Vitamin B has been found to be effective against schizophrenia.
