iPad, iPhone, And Macs Go Touchless? Apple May Rip Off Samsung Galaxy S4 Air Gesture

Now that Jony Ive is in charge of the user interface of Mac OS X and iOS, things are about to get very interesting. We already know that iOS 7 is rumored to be getting a major redesign, and we know a little more about Mac OS X 10.9. There are more details being leaked about how Jony Ive is taking the reins to once again help Apple be the innovative company it is known to be, although it hasn't really wowed the world with something groundbreaking for some time.

If the latest rumors hold any truth, we are in store for a more "Minority Report"-like way of interacting with Apple's iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, iMac, MacBook and Mac Pro. Sources have told Bloomberg that while gestures will play a role in iOS 7 and Mac OS X 10.9, Jony Ive has been secretly meeting with major companies that specialize in advanced gesture-control support. One of those rumored companies is Leap Motion, which coincidentally uses a Mac to show how off how its Leap Motion Gesture controller works in the video embedded below.

"Longer term, Ive also has shown interest in altering how people control their computers. He has met with makers of gesture technology that lets people navigate their gadgets by moving their hands — without touching the screen, said a personal familiar with those interactions," Bloomberg reports.

As you can see in the video, gestures are going to be a major way of interacting with computers, laptops, tablets, and smartphones in the future. Samsung can be credited with bringing similar types of Air gestures to the Samsung Galaxy S4.

We all know that when Apple introduces a new feature it can be very innovative, and now that Jony Ive is in charge of the UI, we should expect something truly groundbreaking and innovative. It sounds like Tim Cook is giving Ive full control over the majority of Mac OS X and iOS, and that will definitely benefit consumers and future iPads, iPhones, iPod touches and Macs.
