Nokia recently launched the T-Mobile version of the Lumia 520, the Lumia 521. Very recently, the handset went on sale at Walmart, Microsoft Retail Stores and T-Mobile retail channels, and now reports indicate that the smartphone is sold out at Walmart.
"T-Mobile will partner with Nokia to bring customers the Lumia 521 - an exclusive to T-Mobile. Powered by Windows Phone 8, the Lumia 521, which will run on T-Mobile's fast nationwide 4G network, is a perfect, everyday smartphone that will embody a range of high-end features at an affordable price," says the T-Mobile press release (via TmoNews).
Windows Phone 8 (WP8) has gained popularity since its release in November 2012. However, the operating system was available only on select top-end smartphones. Many customers would have been a bit skeptical to pay for a top-end smartphone and use an unknown operating system. But now, with the Lumia 521, smartphone customers can experience WP8 at a pocket-friendly price.
"In less than 60 minutes, Walmart sold out the Nokia Lumia 521. That might come as no surprise considering that the phone was priced to sell at $129.88 sans contract. The low-end handset came over to the deep discounter after a successful run on the Home Shopping Network where the device also sold out. HSN offered the model for $149.95 which included a car charger and a screen protector," reports Phone Arena.
The Nokia Lumia 521 sports a 4-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 800 x 480 resolution (233 ppi). The handset measures 4.72 x 2.52 x 0.39 inches and weighs 4.37 ounces. It's powered by a 1430mAh battery, which gives up to 360 hours of standby time and up to 9 hours and 40 minutes of talk time (on 3G). The Lumia 521 also has a 5-megapixel primary camera and is fueled by a 1GHz dual-core processor.
If you are looking to buy the Nokia Lumia 521 from Walmart, then you will have to wait until the retailer gets more inventory of the handset.
