Finland-based Nokia has been basking in the success of its Windows Phone 8-powered Lumia smartphones and now Canadian carrier Koodo Mobile has announced the price of the budget friendly Lumia 520. The carrier will be offering the entry-level Lumia 520 for $150.
In April, Koodo took to its Facebook account to tease the arrival of the budget friendly Lumia 520. The Canadian carrier did not disclose the release date, pricing and colors for the smartphone at the time and simply gave a vague "coming soon" and "more details to come."
However, now Koodo has disclosed the price for the Lumia 520, which is primarily targeted at consumers in emerging markets. The Lumia 520 officially comes in yellow, red, white, black and blue, but no details on the color options Koodo will offer are known and the device is still listed as "coming soon."
Nokia announced the entry-level Lumia 520 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in February this year. The smartphone was touted as the most inexpensive Windows Phone ever. The Lumia 520 is available for $190 in India and has surfaced on eBay for $240.
Now consumers in Canada can get the smartphone for as little as $150 via Koodo Mobile. Moreover, reports suggest that Rogers is also slated to offer the Lumia 520.
The Nokia Lumia 520 has a 4-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 800 x 480 resolution (233 pppi). The smartphone measures 4.72 x 2.52 x 0.39 inches and weighs 4.37 ounces. A 1430mAh battery powers the Lumia 520, which gives up to 360 hours of standby time and up to 9 hours and 40 minutes of talk time on 3G. It has a 5-megapixel primary camera, 512MB of RAM and is fueled by a dual-core 1GHz processor.
The Lumia 520 is the ideal phone for those on a budget, yet looking to enjoy the WP8 smartphone experience.
