‘Riverdale' Season 1 Episode 5 Recap, Episode 6 Spoilers: Cheryl's Story Revealed; Did The Coopers Kill Jason?

The latest episode of The CW’s “Riverdale” has given light to Cheryl Blossom’s story and it turned out to be somewhat heartbreaking. Betty Cooper and Jughead Jones continue their secret investigation on Jason Blossom’s death. And amidst all this, Archie Andrews gets caught up with a Pussycat band member as he tries to figure out his life.

In “Riverdale” Season 1 Episode 5, Cheryl’s dead brother, Jason, is finally getting buried and the whole town of Riverdale is cloaked in sorrow and suspicion. Her family invited everyone, even the people they despised, and Cheryl finds out that her parents actually had ulterior motives. They wanted everybody to be at the funeral so the sheriff can investigate them because they suspect that someone they know murdered their son.

Cheryl tried to fight the sorrow and found comfort in Veronica's company, inviting her over at their huge mansion to stay for the night. Veronica finds out that Cheryl’s parents, especially her mother, resent her because they partly blame her for what happened to Jason. Cheryl was forbidden to give a eulogy for her brother but Veronica convinced her to go against her parents.

At the day of the funeral where everyone was clothed in black, Cheryl in white clothes, made a grand entrance and gave a tearful message for her brother. While the Blossoms were going over the sudden drama at the funeral, Jughead and Betty went up to Jason’s room and found out that Betty’s sister, Polly, was actually engaged to Jason. Enraged and confused, Betty forced her father, Hal, to tell her the whole truth.

Polly and Jason happened to be another case of “Romeo and Juliet” because the Coopers and Blossoms had a business feud many decades ago, resulting in the death of Betty’s great grandfather. Hal said he didn’t want Polly to get married to Jason and told Betty to stay away from the murder case. It was then revealed that Hal was the one who ransacked the sheriff’s house and stole important documents.

As teased, “Riverdale” Season 1 Episode 6 shows Betty questioning her own family, suspecting that they might have actually murdered Jason or at least had a hand in it. She and Jughead decide to pay Polly a visit so they can find out more about the truth. Archie also lights up a fire within Josie and the Pussycats with Valerie leaving the band because of Archie.
