Prepared Salad Recalled By Ready Pac Foods

Salad is a good way to be healthy. Prepared salad is made to make it easier for people to be healthy. However, prepared salad can also be a source for illness if it is contaminated. Prepared salad has been recalled by Ready Pac Foods because of possible contamination.

Prepared salad has been discovered to have a potential for Listeria contamination. That has made Ready Pac Foods to recall prepared chicken salad in stores all over the US. The salad packs that have been recalled contain cheese, which can be a source for Listeria.

Almost 30 tons of prepared salad that has cheese in it is being recalled by Ready Pac Foods. Salad packs that are being recalled have a used by date of March 4, although packs with a used by date from January 1 are being recalled as well. The packs that are being recalled have been made from January 17 to February 17.

The issue first came out on February 21 when the cheese supplier for Ready Pac Foods has said that the cheese in the packed salads might have Listeria contamination. At that time there were already people who have been reporting to have adverse effects after eating the salad. Listeriosis can result from eating food with Listeria, according to The Morning Call. Listeriosis can be treated by antibiotics.

Symptoms of Listeriosis can include muscle pain, fever and headache. Stiff neck can also be experienced by those infected by it. Diarrhea and other gastrointestinal symptoms could also be experienced.

A complication of Listeriosis infection can be experienced by pregnant women, which can affect babies as well. People most at risk with it are older people and those who have weak immune systems. Symptoms can appear for as long as 70 days after first contact with contaminated food, as Food Safety News reports.

Constant monitoring is advised for people who are suspected to have eaten contaminated food. This monitoring can take several months after eating. People are advised to be careful in buying packs labeled Puro Picante Blazin' Hot salad in 7.5 ounce single servings. These products that are suspected to be contaminated have been made from January 17 to February 17 and have a used by date ranging from January 31, 2017 to March 4, 2017.

Eating salad can be healthy. However, salad contamination can also be likely. Prepared salad has been recalled by Ready Pac Foods recently due to contamination. Few parents feel that they are helping to keep kids healthy, as a study reports.
