Samsung Galaxy Note Gets Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update On Telus

Telus users of the Samsung Galaxy Note are finally getting some Jelly Bean love with the release of an Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update.

Telus previously said that the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update would arrive for the device in May, so it's good to see the carrier following through on its promise. The update is available both over the air (OTA) and via Kies. Telus has stated that the update is being rolled out in stages and said, "Your smartphone will receive a notification when this update becomes available to you."

If you're interested in downloading over the air, just go to Settings -> About Device to check and see if the update is available. If the update hasn't yet become available to you, you can go to the "How To" page on Telus' website, and get directions on downloading and installing the update using the Samsung Kies software.

The Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update comes with a variety of new features, including Project Butter for increased overall performance, Multi-View, Samsung's Cloud services, Page Buddy, Smart Stay, Pop-up Play, Direct Call, a new notifications bar, a customizable notification panel, two home screen modes, new widgets and Google Now.

The update for the Galaxy Note on Telus follows the update for the device on AT&T. It's not too surprising that these updates are being rolled out on the different carriers, given the popularity of the Samsung device. Verizon users of the later Galaxy Note 2 got the update a few days ago.
