Meryll Streep Confirmed As Oscars Presenter

Meryl Streep has made global headlines after slamming U.S. President Donald Trump during her speech at the Golden Globes. On Sunday night, everyone will be all ears during the multi-awarded actress’ stint onstage.

Organizers have confirmed that the two-time Oscar winner will be one of the presenters for this year’s Academy Awards. Aside from having the privilege to announce the name of the winner in her category, everyone will watch out if she will confront Trump once again and perhaps, speak for her colleagues who were banned from attending the event due to the Trump travel ban.

Meryl Streep: A Staple At The Oscars

Over the years, Meryl Streep has received the most Oscar nominations. This year, she has made history with her 20th nomination for her stellar performance in Florence Foster Jenkins. In 1979, she received her first nomination for her role in “The Deer Hunter.”

Although Maggie Smith won the Oscar, Streep was able to retrieve her luck the following year when she won as Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Kramer vs. Kramer. By the time she won the Oscar for Best Actress in 2012, former U.K. Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in “The Iron Lady,” has already garnered 17 Oscar nominations.

Meryl Streep vs Donald Trump

During her acceptance speech for her lifetime achievement award at the Golden Globes, Streep called out Trump for allegedly mocking The New York Times' Serge Kovaleski, a disabled reporter.

Furthermore, she also defended and voiced out her support for transgender rights during the Human Rights Campaign 2017 Greater New York Gala dinner.

Without letting his defenses down, Trump immediately backlashed at Streep with verbal tirades. However, Streep’s colleagues immediately came to her defense. One of them is George Clooney who even called Donald Trump a “Hollywood Elitist.” Clooney also called Trump’s chief strategist, Steve Bannon, a failure as a TV and film maker.
