Various rumors about Nokia's upcoming Windows Phone 8 (WP8) smartphone, the Lumia 928, have been surfacing and now Nokia has also put up a landing page of the Lumia 928 on its website but no official specifications are known. There are many rumors of what the upcoming Lumia 928 may tout, but let's take a look at the specifications that the Lumia 928 may not have.
Camera
Many rumors suggest that the Lumia 928 may have a 41-megapixel camera. However, other rumors suggest that the camera of the Lumia 928 will have some improvements over Lumia 920 but won't have 41-megapixel sensors. Nokia is rumored to be working on another smartphone, Nokia EOS, that will have a 41-megapixel camera.
Display
The Lumia 920 sports a 4.5-inch display and speculations suggest that the Lumia 928 will also get the same size display. There are no indications whatsoever that the Lumia 928 will have a bigger-than-4.5-inch display.
Near Field Communications (NFC) And Wireless Charging
The Lumia 928 is expected to have an aluminum body. However, aluminum does not go well with NFC and wireless charging. Data would be blocked from transmitting and NFC and wireless charging may not be effective. Unless Nokia has found a way around this problem, an aluminum-designed next-generation Lumia 928 would be a bad idea for the company.
Operating System
Unlike Apple, which is bringing out a new version of its operating system with its new product, the Lumia 928 will still be running on WP8. Even though there are reports that Microsoft is working on the Windows 8.1 Blue operating system for both PCs and mobile devices, there are no reports that suggest the Lumia 928 will get a new operating system.
Carrier
The Nokia Lumia 920 is exclusive to U.S. carrier AT&T and rumors suggest that the Lumia 928 will head to Verizon only. So if you are not on Verizon and do not want to leave your existing mobile phone network, then you may have to look at alternate WP8 smartphones.
Nokia has finally confirmed the Lumia 928 but has not announced a launch date for the handset. We will have to wait until Nokia finally takes the curtains off the much-awaited Lumia 928.
