It seems Ark: Survival Evolved developer Studio Wildcard is starting to make things right with the modding community. The video game company is reportedly taking Gabe Newell's (that guy from Valve) into reality. That, in one way or another, modders shouldn't only be appreciated -- they should also be compensated. Well, this is exactly the direction the studio is taking.
According to PC Gamer, the aforementioned Ark: Survival Evolved developer is set to launch its own modding program. This is to basically allow modders of the game to have the chance to earn money. Obviously, this isn't meant for them to sell their stuff; rather, they'll be getting paid by the studio for their works.
It's worth noting that the payment for Ark: Survival Evolved modders will not be on a one-time basis. Instead, they'll be earning money on a monthly basis. Studio Wildcard will pay them every month. There will be a total of 15 modders, with each earning a whopping $4,000 per month. Of course, there's a process to this.
Basically, all the mods for Ark: Survival Evolved will undergo an evaluation process of sort. This will determine if the modder will continue to work each month or not. This will also serve as a way for the video game company to distinguish if a mod has to be dropped or added. For now, the studio is looking to hire only the said quantity of modders. However, if this program proves to be a success, the number will surely be increased. And obviously, this already includes the amount of money involved.
