Kiss Goodbye To The Pixel 3 Chromebook, It Ain't Coming

Following the footsteps of Google's Chromebooks, specifically the Chromebook Pixel and Pixel 2 laptops, it was expected that the company will roll out a Chromebook Pixel 3 with Andromeda this year. However, fans may as well kiss and wave goodbye to that, because it ain't coming and Google has confirmed it.

Google Pulls The Plug

According to an article at Trusted Reviews, Google has revealed that it has no plans whatsoever to launch more own-branded laptops under the Pixel branding. Speaking to reporters at the 2017 Mobile World Congress, Rick Osterloh, Google's senior VP for hardware said that Google has not backed away from laptops and mentioned that the company has the number two market share both in the United States and in the United Kingdom. However, there are no plans for Google-branded laptops. Essentially, this means that the chances of seeing a Chromebook Pixel 3 in the future are zero.

The Future Of Andromeda Is Uncertain

Aside from the sad news that there will be no Chromebook Pixel 3 coming, many tech enthusiasts and consumers alike had high expectations that the said device will be the first laptop to come with Andromeda, a combination of Chrome OS and Android. As of now, it is anybody's guess to see what hardware will feature this combination first.

Other Upcoming New Laptops From Google (With Partners)

Looking at the bright side of all the sad news from Google, the Samsung Chromebook Pro that was seen at the 2017 Consumer Electronic Show not long ago is reported to be coming this April. It is reported to cost around $100 more than the Samsung Chromebook Plus. As to what specs and features it will carry, it will sport a 12.3-inch Quad HD display with 2400 x 1600 pixels (similar to the Chromebook Plus) and will be packing an Intel Core M3 chip. Speaking about the Chromebook Plus, this hybrid laptop/tablet is currently being retailed at Google Store for only $449 with a $20 Google Play Store credit included.
