From what has transpired in "The Force Awakens," Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) is no longer considered a laughing matter. Many in the galaxy now know that he and his minions are poised to conquer their worlds.

The destruction of the Starkiller Base was a significant loss to Snoke and The First Order. It exposed the secret he has kept hidden from all in the galaxy. This simply means the "Cold War" standoff is now over, more so after the rebels attacked the senate and the Republic. In "Star Wars: The Last Jedi," every planet in the galaxy now regards Snoke and his forces as maniacal enough to invade and destroy their worlds.

As such, the planets in the galaxy have to pick what side they will latch their futures on. Like it or not, they know that a full-scale war will start soon. The latest "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" spoiler suggest that since Snoke knows that his secrets are now exposed, he and his minions will hasten their preparations for war before the rebels can prepare themselves.
Everything Will Change Once The War Starts
The threat posed by Snoke and his forces in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" is extremely dangerous given that the entire galaxy is in disarray. Every planet knows that they have to make a stand for or against Snoke. Whatever choice they make, their worlds will no longer be the same. Whether they choose to fight with the rebels or meekly coalesce with the army of Snoke, everything will change.
General Organa Will Have More Allies In The Resistance
On a positive note, General Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) will no longer be alone in her stand against The First Order. There will be alliances made with the planets who now realize that The First Order in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" is the greatest threat to the democracy and freedom in the galaxy. They know that they have to fight to stop Snoke and his army from accomplishing their plans.
